On the website it states : "Courses will not be acceptable if they are repeats of previously passed courses,or if they are taken at the same level or a lower level in a subject area than previously passed courses in the same subject area."
What does the bolded statement mean ?

It means that for example, if you've taken a 3rd yr Biochem course, you aren't supposed to be taking another 3rd yr Biochem course (in the same area of Biochem) or a 2nd yr Biochem course (any 2nd yr biochem course) after that.
Does that help?

Clear it with the Admissions people first. If its too similar to one of the courses you have already taken, then they won't let you.

So if in an earlier semester I took BIOC 2580 and than in a later semester took BIOC 3560, would I only be able to put the third year course towards my application or could I use the second year one because I took it first?

Just a housekeeping note to anyone reading: this looks to be a duplicate posting by the same person as this post: fvc.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=admissions&thread=686&page=1#11789You can use either, so: USE THE ONE WITH THE HIGHEST GRADE. So far as prerequisites go (and assuming all other requirements for course acceptability are met): Higher-level courses (i.e., higher year level than all other courses taken in the same subject area) can always be used.
Lower-level courses can be used so long as NO higher-level courses (in the same subject area) were taken BEFORE.
For courses taken at the same level in the same subject area, only the earliest course taken can be used.
Examples:- Take a 2nd year course, then a 3rd year course: BOTH are acceptable.
- Take a 3rd year course, then a 2nd year course: ONLY the 3rd year course is acceptable.
- Take a 2nd year course, then another 2nd year course in the same subject area: ONLY the first course taken is acceptable.
The rule is simply intended to prevent students with higher-level experience unfairly inflating their grades by taking lower level courses.

I am also a little bit confused about this......
If I've taken, for example an ANSC*4000 course and then take an ANSC*3000 course after, does that mean the 3000 course is unacceptable?
What if they are unrelated to each other? Say for example, the 4000 course is one of the animal nutrition courses and the 3000 course is the Advanced issues in aquaculture course?
Very confused!

What if they are unrelated to each other? Say for example, the 4000 course is one of the animal nutrition courses and the 3000 course is the Advanced issues in aquaculture course? Very confused! I think the issue is that how admissions uses the phrase " subject area" makes it seem like somewhat of a fuzzy concept. Going by the UofG undergraduate calendar, a "subject area" is defined as follows: Each course is identified by a two-part code. The first part of the code refers to the subject area, the second to the level of the course. Thus, the course PSYC*3570 is a course in the subject area of Psychology (PSYC*XXXX), and is of a level that places it among courses in the 3000 series. (all emphasis mine) Going by this, your line of reasoning would appear correct that an ANSC 3000-level course taken after an ANSC 4000-level course would render the 3000-level course unacceptable for the purposes of OVC admissions as they are both ANSC courses and, thus, going by the above definition, are in the same subject area. With that said though, I also find it a bit weird to follow this rigid of a definition as I agree there can be wildly different courses within a single official "subject area". However, these are just my own thoughts so, bottom line: you'll have to contact Deanna Lundmark in admissions to get the final, definitive word if you are concerned about the acceptability of certain courses taken in a particular order for the purposes of DVM admissions.

Did anyone ever get a response from Ms. Lundmark regarding taking a eg BIOM 4000 level course in one semester then next semester taking a BIOM3000 level course in the next semester Would that deem a semester unacceptable or just the use of the 3000 level course in the pre reqs?
Also am I too assume that if I have taken a BIOM 4000 level course that now any more BIOM 4000 courses taken after are no longer valid if used for my 8 prerequisites?
This doesn't make much sense to me considering a lot of programs require you to take more then one (eg 4000 level course) in consecutive semesters.
