I know that the courses you take should be at your year level but does anyone know if it is okay to take a third year course in second year?
The reason I ask is because there is a third year course only offered in second semester at my university that I'd like to use as a prerequisite course. I'm in second year, currently taking four 2nd year courses and the 3rd year course. Would this still be an acceptable semester? I'd like to use it as one of my two last acceptable semesters when I apply for the 2014 class.
I already faxed in my course approvals but it would help me sleep better until I get a response if someone could share their experience with this!

I'm assuming this post and the one just a few minutes earlier by " guest13" (in " Re: Clarification: Acceptable Semesters", fvc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=courses&action=display&thread=6387) are duplicates, so I'm just going to put my answer once, here: I don't have any direct experience with this, but I think I can pretty confidently say that I can't see them having any issue with this, and it should be an acceptable semester. What admissions is looking to avoid are people trying to take courses " below" their knowledge level or are essentially the same as courses they have already taken (i.e., upper-years loading up on lower-level courses to unfairly inflate their marks). This is essentially captured on the OVC DVM admissions page where they outline the " Important Regulations": www.ovc.uoguelph.ca/future/dvm/admissions/academic/#Important. You are doing the opposite of this: taking a higher-level course (i.e., above your current grade level), so I definitely think you should be fine and it will be deemed an acceptable semester (at least as far as I can say with regards to course levels).

Thanks, my thoughts exactly.
(I did post earlier but wanted to start a new thread to help others quickly find discussions on this subject if need be!)

Dreizehn is correct. You only have to worry about lower level not higher level.
