Hi guys, I'm looking to apply to OVC this coming application cycle, it will be my first application and I was wondering if someone who has previously applied and gotten admission can answer a few questions I have about the Bif. 1 ) I have taken a look at the sample BiF document provided on Webadvisor and I see that for the area where we list our references and extra curricular experiences, they want us to write down the contact information for all the items we state. I do have references for my 2 veterinarians and my 1 animal experience but for my extra curricular activities in non-animal related activites I don't have contact information for my references as some of these things were from highschool, or are things such as "volunteered for oweek" etc. Is there an area on the actual BiF where I can mention these activities/explain them without having to provide a reference?
2) Just what other sort of information will I be required to have for the BiF?
Thank you!

You need to have a validator for all experiences. They won't be asked to provide references and may not even be contacted but they need to confirm that you did volunteer/work there for about x hours.
For things like o-week volunteering, try to find a supervisor of some sorts, there are OV team leaders that should have worked with you. Doesn't even have to be a "higher-up", a colleague/peer should be able to validate.
They ask for number of hours total and average hours per week, type of experience, and a little blurb about what the experience entails. Then there's the 3 "essays" (used to be 1), they're VERY short and release the questions and word limits before the BIF is available so I worked on them early.

Hey, new question. Does the BIF take a while to upload onto Webadvisor? My application was received in Septemeber when it opened for admissions, but no BIF has been put into the documents section of webadvisor yet.
Thanks

You have to go to the applicants section of WebAdvisor to see your BIF under the communications tab. It should show up but I don't think its available to fill out yet because nothing happens when I click on it.

Hi, I was also wondering where I will receive my BiF because I realized I did not provide my gryphmail in my internal application, I provided a Gmail. Will I be emailed when the BiF becomes available? Tanya

Hi,
The BIF should be available through your web advisor account now, under 'applicants' and then 'documents' as a link.

Is the BiF available yet? I still don't see it but I only applied two days ago so I'm not sure how long I should wait to expect to receive access to it!

It usually takes a few days to show up so I wouldn't worry yet!

Hello! I am having trouble with my BIF online and was wondering if there was anything i could do to troubleshoot. I am able to log in via ellucian but once i "Begin Background Information Form" I am brought to a page that seems to have every section of the BIF on a scrolling page rather than as different steps that use the 'previous' and 'next' tabs. At the top of the page I have a never-ending loading logo with the word "loading" above it. Worst of all, it is as if all of the data I had inputted a few weeks ago when I started the BIF is erased (not the end of the world, I have my personal statements in a word doc, but not really ideal..). I have tried to log in through different internet networks to see if that helped but that hasn't been successful. Has anyone had this issue before? If so how did you handle it?
Thank you in advance!

I am applying for the second time this cycle. I ended up having to defer one of my exams during the fall 2019 semester because I was terribly sick, however that exam ended up being the course I want to use as one of my 8 pre-reqs for my application and one of the ones for my last two full time semesters. I contacted someone at the admissions office if I can defer it and have it still count and was told that as long as the grade is uploaded in my official transcript by March 1st it will count, however now that I am doing my BIF, I realized I don't have a grade to input for that pre-req and I'm not sure what to do. Am I still able to use this course now? Will my fall 2019 semester count in this application?

I would email the office to make sure.
