Hey! Kinda of looking for some advice, I am entirely not sure what to do at this point. I applied last year and didn't get in, my average was not high enough, so I went back to school for the semester to up my grade but I only ended up increasing by 0.3%. So I don't even know if I should bother applying at this point since my grade is an 80.5 now and the admission average keeps increasing. I've already graduated my undergrad and don't even know if I could make the grade any higher with another extra semester. Should I just apply? Hope people apply with lower grades ahah... Thank you,

Thank you, I think the chances are extremely slim that the grades will be lower, or at least that much lower than last year. I’d say it’s basically impossible. So your options could be to do more semesters or maybe look into overseas options? Unfortunately, OVC is just one of those schools that won’t look at any part of your application until you meet a cutoff

I'm in that boat of people that never took English credits or organic chems so I can't really apply to overseas which is a bummer. I guess I am probably stuck at going back for more semesters but then I'm not even sure what to take as I've already taken so many courses to up grades or fill elective spots that my options are very slim. I guess I am trying to justify even continuing with the application this year or not (my family and friends are all saying just do it you never know... though I am well aware an 80 isn't competitive, they don't get that haha, but because of that they've got me thinking to just do it on the very none real chance that people miraculously stop applying with 98s). This turned into more of a rant whoops, but I'd appreciate an words of advice, truly I'm trying to feel better about my options

Hey c13, when I first applied to OVC, I had like a 75. I went back for extra semesters (it took 3) and I got my grades up to an 87 which got me in to the class of 2022. I know going back sucks but if you think you can get the grades, I can attest that it’s worth it.

My family would do the same thing to me, they said they knew I’d be accepted when I was on the lower end of grades when I applied and it was super frustrating! In terms of overseas options, look into Oztrekk. They basically organize your applications for australia schools all for free. I applied to Melbourne and Sydney with them and they were amazing with helping me through a very stressful process. I also didn’t have organic chem or English but I got accepted to both schools! It’s an option and the exchange rate isn’t the worst. I would’ve been going if I didn’t get into ovc by the skin of my teeth! You’re always free to message me if you need someone to talk to or bounce ideas off of!

Thank you, Hi there, I understand how that can be very frustrating. Give yourself the credit you deserve for coming this far! In terms of applying with an 80 , what I can say this is highly unlikely you get an interview. Unfortunately, the average keeps increasing every year and just in this last year (fall 2019) entrance it increased almost 2%. Having said that, if you feel you are not burnt out and can do another semester and really set yourself up for success by taking courses that are within your strengths then it is worth a shot to apply once more. Otherwise, if you can ..applying to schools outside of Canada is a great option. Some people already mentioned Australia or st. Kits. Those are two good schools if you are able to pay the international fees and then admissions average is lower ! I hope this was helpful !
