Ya, predominantly equine. Some cows, the odd goat or pig, and sometimes llamas, alpacas, etc. But mostly horses.

What are the requirements to apply for the Large Animal Surgery volunteer opportunities? Do you really need previous experience with large animals, or can you just apply?

While I have no personal experience with the volunteer program at OVC, per their web site ( www.ovc.uoguelph.ca/future/dvm/volunteer): c. Large Animal Surgery
Requirements: Previous veterinary clinic experience and previous experience handling large animals is required [/b]. (all emphasis mine) [/blockquote]The " Animal Housing Division, Large Animal Wards" volunteer position doesn't list prior large animal experience under its requirements, so you might look into that instead. If you have questions, need further application information, or want to discuss specifically your situation, as well as whether there are large animal volunteer opportunities for those without prior large animal experience, I would suggest you go to the source and contact the volunteer coordinator given on the web site: Catherine Ollerhead-DeSantis, collerhe@uoguelph.ca
