Hi, I go to Queen's and I'm wondering if you majored in bio? I want to use Stats 263 as a prereq for vet school, but Biol 243 (another stats course) was mandatory for bio majors and is an exclusion of stats 263. However, I took stats 263 before I took Biol 243 so I'm wondering if stats 263 would still count as a prereq. If anyone knows, please comment!

Hi, I would strongly suggest reaching out to OVC to get your courses approved asap - they will be able to answer this question more accurately. One thing you should be aware of though.... If Biol243 is an exclusion for stats 263 (i.e. the content overlaps too much) this could make your entire semester invalid. You should double check as when you "retake" courses or take courses with similar content, OVC often doesn't count them. Which could make your semester end up with 4/5 courses instead of 5/5 and invalidate it.

This site is NOT for course approvals. Please read the OVC website for details.
Instructions for having external (non-U of G) courses assessed as acceptable DVM prerequisites are outlined on the OVC website at Applying to DVM - OVC Recruitment (uoguelph.ca).

HI Dora
You only need to get course approval if you will be taking a course you will want to use as a prerequisite. Connect with an academic advisor at the university you are going to for assistance. They can reach out to the registrar's office if they have questions too.

Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if any recent Queen's applicants have used BIOL341 Plant Physiology as their cell bio prerequisite? Someone else posted on this forum in 2016 that they used this course and the course syllabus has not changed since then so I am curious if it is still acceptable.

Hello, Does anyone know if MGY250 at uoft would count as a genetics course? I sent in a course evaluation but classes will have started by the time I hear back. Thanks! I have the same issue. All my other pre-reqs are accepted, but my genetics courses were not. Can someone please answer this question soon.

Hello,
I unfortunately didn't know about the official course approval process and by the time I learned about it, It was too late for me to check my ensure my courses would be approved before taking them. I am just worried about my Biochemistry course because it is an upper-year course and not the introductory course you take in the second year. Western has limited Biochemistry courses without being in the specific module or taken several chemistry prerequisites. Have any applicants used BIOCHEM 3392G - SYNTHETIC BIOLOGY as their biochemistry prerequisite?
This is the course description: An introduction to the principles of synthetic biology. Synthetic biology lies at the junction between basic biological research and technological innovation. This course will introduce the principles of the discipline and provide the foundation needed for those interested in pursuing more advanced studies in academic or industrial settings. The lectures will focus on designing biological constructs/genome, DNA synthesis and assembly, editing, delivery and installation in the destination organisms.
Thank you so much in advance!
