HI OVC2019
Why are you considering telephone work as veterinary experience? I'm not clear on that.

I work in the LAC/SAC as a telephone student. I handling referring veterinarian calls as well as notifying a after hours emergency cases come in to the clinic. As well, as any other receptionists duties as required.
I just reread the non-academic requirements requirements and I'm still confused as to include this as animal or veterinary experience on my BIF. I work do with veterinarians in a way that a receptionist would but I am not directly supervised by one. Would this only be considered animal experience then?

I have a similar issue. I work as strictly a receptionist in a clinic would this be considered animal experience or other work experience? I see on the OVC website that vet experience does not include reception/administrative jobs. However it is "animal related" as such I'm unsure if this would be animal or other employment experience.

This is extracurricular/other employment since you do not work directly with a veterinarian so you are not job shadowing or gaining experience of what vets experience day to day. Animal related means you are working with animals, and this is not the case. You are working with the clients and referring veterinarians.

As we are not able to see the reference letters, what happens if a vet forgets to include the additional letter of support? Will we be penalized for this?

Hi, I have a question regarding validators for extracurricular activities. I have two daily significant things I done in high school, one being a 3 month educational exchange to France and the other being in cadets for 5 years. I'm just wondering if there's any restrictions on who the validator can be. For cadets the unit I was a part of no longer exists and I have no way of contacting the leadership that was there. Would a fellow ex cadets parent do?
Also what about an experience that has not happened but happen before the interview. I'm going on a VIDA trip to South America for spay neuter clinics which is taking place before the interview period. I would like to include it so if the interviewer wishes they can ask me about that experience. Would that be ok to put it It in the bif and just specify the future dates and anticipated duties.

Use your best judgement for validators.
You should not be putting a future event in as an activity.

For those of you who volunteered at the OVC SAS/LAS, would you cosider that animal expirience? I spent one semester there, and while I worked quite often with technicians I had limited contact with the actual vets peforming the surgeries. I wouldn't be able to put down a specific veterinarian as a validator, so I wasn't sure if I could count this under veterinary expirience.

I would say animal experience.

If we are still participating in an activity in the present, what should we put as the "to" date? Thanks!

Put the date of the application (March 1 2015)

I already submitted my BIF but I left the "to" part blank. Would it be possible to make any changes to put March 1 2015 instead for ongoing activities?

Don't worry OVC2015 (actually if you get in you would be OVC2019) just leave it blank.

Man, explaining why you want to be a veterinarian in 2500 characters including spaces is TOUGH!

Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to confirm if it would be OK to leave average number of hours blank if it is not a weekly activity and instead only fill in total hours?
