Firstly, I'm going to preface this by stressing again (as I have written in other posts) that Ms. Lundmark is
very busy (i.e., it's
NOT just the DVM applicants she is looking over; she also does other programs and handles many general inquiries), and likely especially so at this time of the year and the preceding few months when admission processes are peaking. In retrospect and in general, I also think the admissions people as a whole can be a bit under-appreciated as, honestly, a lot of applicants can understandably be kind of difficult to deal with due to the inherently stressful nature of the application process (I know I almost certainly was at times
).
Now, with that said, as a former external applicant myself I understand
all too well where you're at right now, and,
regardless of any of the above, would be the first to agree with you that
four months without an answer is an awfully long time. At the same time, unfortunately I don't find this overly surprising, as I had a similar experience during my course approvals process, and have heard the same frustration from many other external applicants. Unfortunately, the timeline of "
...at least eight weeks prior to when the decision is required" (as given on the OVC admissions web site:
www.ovc.uoguelph.ca/recruitment/en/applyingtodvm/Academicrequirements.asp) appears to often be only a
very rough idea (to put it mildly).
So, as for the core of your question itself: the first step I would take would be to contact Ms. Lundmark (e-mail, phone, I believe appointments are possible but I think her schedule is pretty full) to
confirm she does indeed have your course approvals package (if you haven't done so already) and, hopefully, see if she might be able to give you an idea of when it might be ready; there's no point in faxing in another copy of your file if you can confirm they
already have one, and this way you might at least get some additional information. Again, unfortunately, all I can offer you is the best of luck with this: I personally had numerous e-mails and phone messages go without acknowledgment, and the few times I
was able to make contact was told it would be "
just another two weeks," which then invariably passed without response. Chin up though: I did
eventually get a final answer so, as long as you
know she has your file, you too will
eventually get an answer, it will likely just involve a decent bit more waiting...
tl;dr:Admissions is very busy.
Confirm they received your course approvals package.
Continue waiting...
