Hi all,
I have sent a couple of emails to Deanna and have not received any response so hoping someone on here can offer some insight.
Has anyone taken a non-degree semester for purposes of the DVM program? More specifically--how does the 60/40 course rule apply?
The "Changing Career Paths" document states that any student 3rd year and beyond can take 60% at 3rd/4th year, and 40% at level of applicants choice.. BUT...It also states earlier in the document that the courses must be assessed to be taken at the maximum appropriate year level?!
Now....does maximum appropriate year level mean the max year level I CAN take them at? For example, I'm taking a 2nd year sociology course and 2nd year ENVS course (This is obviously the maximum year level I can take since I have no prereqs for higher levels in these subject areas)...
OR does it mean that all my courses need to be in 4th year??
Hellllp! Thank you.

I took a non-degree semester. I took 3 half courses at the 3000 level because and two 2000 courses. My second year courses had to be "higher" or have course content that was significantly different than my previous coursework to qualify. Maximum appropriate, as far as I understand it means that the courses must be some sort of next step from what you've already taken. For instance you can't take stats for the life sciences if you've already taken stats 2 - the courses are too much alike and so it doesn't count. It sounds like you have appropriate courses but as always, Deanna is the final word.

Thank you so much cbarne-- you've definitely reduced some of my anxiety. I am going to talk to Deanna today so I'll let everyone know the final word.
