Hey guys! I am going to write Ms. Lundmark soon to get my 8 prerequisite courses approved, but I was wondering, for prospective courses that I haven't taken yet.. how will I provide a syllabus? What if I can't find one? Should I just send her the course description provided on my university course calendar? And on the OVC website it says I should send a transcript with the courses I've completed to date.. but is it necessary because I only finished the first semester of university.. thanks.
And also for one of my course the syllabus is as long as 8 pages.. would I need to send all the pages? Some of the pages are on academic integrity.. tips on doing well on the course.. and just required readings for the weeks.

Hi Willotree. I have pestered Ms. Lundmark A LOT the past year so hopefully I can help you out a bit. For the courses I haven't taken yet, I went ahead and emailed the proffs who taught the class most recently and they were all kind enough to forward me a copy of the most recent syllabus. But I only did this for courses where Ms. Lundmark indicated to me that the little blurb describing the course on my Uni website wasn't sufficient. I think it is probably best to just go ahead and send the transcript as well. I sent mine even though none of my courses listed at that point were ones I planned to use for admission. I would also just send the whole syllabus. I had a few long ones as well and I just popped it all in an envelope and sent it off. I think it's better just to be thorough. Good luck!

Thanks Sthingyage for your reply, this was helpful. I guess I'll get things sorted after the winter break because I think the transcript centre at my school is closed. So did you first mail Ms. Lundmark a letter with general course descriptions and THEN send her the syllabus' AFTER she told you which ones she wanted to see? And normally how long does it take for her to respond because I know she's very busy.

Yep, first I just put together a cover letter and a document outlining which courses I wanted to use for which prerequisites and the course descriptions. There were a couple that she needed more info about and then I sent her the complete syllabus for those ones. It does take awhile to hear back. I think I waited around two months for a response to the first one I sent. But I did get a confirmation email each time saying that my submission had been received.

Hey willotree, for course approvals I sent in an unofficial transcript rather than the actual $10 official one and that was okay.
I think you may also have to wait until this year's round of admissions passes (after June?) to hear back. I remember sending in my first course approval in February and received an email from Guelph saying it'd take a while. By July, I still hadn't heard back so I sent them a follow up email and ended up receiving my course approval the day after. It sounds like you're getting this out of the way early, so I wouldn't worry about having to wait - just don't forget to follow up!
