Hey everyone,
I'm a bit confused with regards to the way the 8 course prerequisite is structured. It says that NUTR*3330 (micronutrients, phytochemicals and health) can count as a biological science. Since the rules say that courses cannot be used if they are at the same/lower subject level, how can this course count as NUTR*3210 is a pre-requisite for that course? I have taken NUTR*3210 in second year, second semester and then took NUTR*3330 in my fourth year, first semester.
Thanks!

Hello,
From what I have gathered when I talked to D Lundmark. This rule applies mores to the content, rather then the course code. For example my issue was I took a fourth year BIOM course in third year so following your logic in my actual fourth year when I have to take more 4th year BIOM courses to complete my degree, this semester would be disqualified from vet school applications. I'm sure a lot of people would have this issue as well if this were the case.
When I talked to her about this she explained to me that it was more for content, so if you had taken a physiology course, it wouldn't be a good idea to take another physiology course at the same or lower level or any course that had significant overlap. Given that NUTR 3210 is introduction to nutrition and NUTR 3330 is an extension of that knowledge I'd say you'd be fine especially considering NUTR 3210 is a pre req for it.
Also if they have a problem with one of your pre reqs they will simply contact you and ask for another one, they won't just disqualify you on the spot. (this info is from another email with DVM admissions).
As always though it is best to contact D Lundmark to get the official word, just don't be surprised if you don't hear back promptly its a busy time in admissions currently and I believe it says somewhere that you should allow 6-8 weeks for a response.
Hope this helps!
