I'm currently finishing up what I hoped to be my last semester before applying for entry in September 2016 (I'm a non-traditional student who decided to return to university after completing an unrelated degree and working for 5 years). As required, I'm taking a full semester (5 courses) so that I can submit some of my current courses as prerequisites, and have this count as one of my 2 last acceptable semesters.
Unfortunately, the TAs and graduate student course instructors are currently on strike at U of T and have been for almost 4 weeks at this point. One of my classes is taught by a PhD student, so we haven't had lecture since the strike began. The university is currently not communicating very clearly with us -- we've been told that the courses will not be cancelled (i.e., we will receive credit for the course), but no definite word on whether we'll get a grade for the course (and how they'll even determine that grade is another question altogether). I know most people here are probably at University of Guelph, but can anyone shed light as to whether this semester will still count as "acceptable" for me? Has anyone had something similar occur? I did send an email a few days ago to OVC inquiring about this but haven't heard back yet.
I'd be really disappointed to have to take another semester due to cost, and I was hoping to spend the next year gaining as much experience as possible before applying.
