Hello,
I am about to switch my major to biology and I am in my second year of the current program. I am avoiding having to stay back extra years and so when I do switch my major Ill be taking a lot of second year bio courses in my third year. That is a problem according to the following rule:
"For students in programs with more than 10 credits, 60% of credits in each full-time semester must be taken at a 3000 level (third year level) or above. However, 40% of the credits in a full-time semester may be taken at the level of the applicant's choice."
I am still going to do the courses in full time semesters nonetheless. If I appeal this, what is the chance ill still be able to apply to OVC? I really don't want to go out of province for vet school.
P.S. I think the 60/40 rule is really unnecessary.
Any kind of help/reassurance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

However, I do know that the 60/40 rule applies once you are in 3rd and 4th year.. so that means next semester you would want to take only 2 second year courses and the other 3 courses would have to be a 3rd or 4rth year course in order for the semester to be counted towards vet school. Instead of taking 3 or 4 second year courses next semester you can try and break them down over the next 4 semesters you have in the biology program, that way you can maintain the 40% rule of first and second year courses! if that makes sense but you can always double check with Deanna Lundmark.

I tried organizing it that way, but the problem is a lot of the courses Im gonna take are pre-reqs for third and fourth year courses !! So that makes it super hard.

Can you take a bunch of them together so that you have 1 ineligible semester and the rest will count? Your 4 full-time semesters just won't be in a row (and might include this semester).

No I don't have any good semesters that I want counted towards vet school . I've tried rearranging it in as many possible ways, nothing seems to work out except not following the 60/40 rule ugh

Hi Drew
Please work with Deanna Lundmark on making an appeal for your situation.
