Hello, I pet sit my friend's dog occasionally, and I am also fostering a rescue rat who just had babies..Do they count as "animal experience"? Thank you!

I had dog sitting as an animal experience on my application but also had voluteering at Dog Tales with dogs and horses. And it did work out for me. But I don't know if doggie sitting alone would be enough in terms of the experience 'quality' as they say. Since it's not that different from raising your own dog (which won't qualify). If it's your only animal experience my advice will be to explore additional areas to make your application stronger. Good luck!

Are you paid to pet sit? I pet sat for one woman for 4 years in highschool with the occasional other animal (mostly friends pets) but put it as work experience. Mind you this was 2010-2014 so it was so old they probably didn't care lol

I agree with ^Bear^, I would try to find different experiences that make your application stronger! There will be lots of people with 'pet sitting' experiences of many different types. Try to get some large animal experience, exotics, wildlife rehabilitation etc. Feel free to message me if you have any questions

Thank you everyone! I also volunteered at cat shelters, horse barns, wildlife rahabilitation centre, and am doing a MSc by thesis with chickens so I do have other animal experiences. I am just wondering if I can included pet sitting and fostering rats in my animal experience.
