Hey guys!
I'm just curious about the amount of "productivity" needed to be a strong applicant in the grad cohort. I have a couple publications from undergrad but none from my MSc. Unforunately we are a new lab and are struggling to publish. I have however given many talks and posters at various conferences.
I just want to get a sense of how competitive I would be given my current circumstance. I know that there is some variance from year to year that is hard to predict. I did not grow up wanting to become a vet, and this has been a relatively recent aspiration of mine. I will only have some limited volunteer experience at a clinic and with large animals at a sanctuary.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I was admitted this year from the grad cohort and I can just say that it was extremely competitive. All the interviewed applicants were very strong and some applied more than once in the grad cohort. If you need any more details contact me.

Another quick question.. does anyone know roughly when they heard back from admissions this year about interviews? I'm trying to plan out what I would do if I don't get in. Thanks!

I only have 1 first author peer reviewed paper, and I am nervous this will not be enough to be competitive. Thanks Elana

This may change in 2020. We are looking to do ALL domestic interviews the same week in May and let people know by early June. Any word on when grad interviews will be taking place?

It will be the same week as the undergrad ones. The dates are now posted on the website.

I am currently sitting at 4 publications ( one accepted 1st author, one submitted first author, and others accepted where I am a co-author) and 6 conferences. I would have 8 conferences but I find it difficult to fit everything into the space provided given how they ask you to format the descriptions of the conferences.

Just a gentle reminder that papers/conferences aren't everything! - they want to see the whole package; that's why they also look at grad/undergrad grades, interview scores etc. So don't fret if you feel like you will only have 1 or 2 papers. It's a competitive cohort and getting an interview is half the battle.

Has anybody in the graduate cohort received an interview invite? Elizabeth Lowenger posted on a F20 applying to OVC facebook group that they have pushed things back. She said the latest we will hear about interviews (and interview format) is May 14th. Good luck.

Elizabeth posted about 45 mins ago saying interview offers have been sent out.

Is it possible that the interview invites are coming out in waves though, if we have until May 14th to hear by?

I still haven't heard... I did see one person say they were in the grad cohort and got an interview invite.... I'm wondering if it's going alphabetical? But you would think if you haven't gotten an email then it's done.
