Hello everyone,
When logging information into the animal experience section on the BIF form does total hours refer to the amount of hours spent directly working with the animals or totals hours at that placement? For instance, if I worked at a pet store do I only log the hours I was working with an animal or all the hours I was there regardless of animal interaction?
Thank you in advance.

You should separate out the animal interaction time otherwise it is work/extracurricular

Also in regards to hours on the BIF, how close does what we put have to be to what our reference put? Seeing as it’s just an approximation how strict are you on this? And if you are concerned about it will you call them to look into it first? Thanks in advance.

This is your experience so I'm not sure why you think it should be an approximation ... it does not say that in the website. I always suggest that people log their hours to get an accurate reflection of the work they have done.
You can always let them know what you put down in terms of hours.

If you see that they are off will you call the reference? Or is it an automatic red flag? Or is there anyway the hours can be changed after the reference has submitted?

The hours cannot be changed after they are submitted so you need to do your due diligence beforehand. If there is a substantial difference in reporting it may be flagged by the committee.
