Worked super hard to apply with a 90 & I didn't get one either That's crazy. Did anyone get an interview with marks of 90 or below? I applied with a 90.5 and was offered an interview.

Were any of you applying with higher than an 89? I'm still confused as to why I didn't receive an invite with a 90 I have a 89.25 and was offered an interview. Very sorry for those who were not. Keep fighting the good fight

frustratedbeyondbelief I understand how stressful a time this is. We did send the interview invites within a week of the usual time. I would encourage you to reach out to me so we can discuss your concerns and talk about how we can improve for future cycles.

I was not able to join even using my Guelph applicant email address. Not sure why. I too would love to know what is going on. I am a student at Guelph and had difficulties getting into the group at first. Once I added my uoguelph.ca email as an additional email on my facebook account, I was accepted to the group immediately!
Thank you to oac2020 for mentioning this! To everyone trying to join the "Applying to OVC for F20" Facebook group, you need to first connect your Guelph applicant email address to your account. Go to your FB settings > Personal Information > Email Address, select add email address, and put in your @uoguelph.ca address. Once verified you should be able to send a join request to the group!

Hi everyone. We know that these unprecedented times can lead to stress and anxiety, however we would like to remind you all that this forum is not an official admissions information website. If you would like to find official information regarding admissions into OVC, please look at the OVC website. We hope that this helps you to find correct answers to any questions you may have.

Maybe you should prioritize communicating through the website and official emails instead of online forums.

Ms. Lowenger, I think a good first start would be to link this forum and the Facebook group somewhere on the OVC website or in an email to applicants. Fill it with disclaimers about the information as you must, but the reality is the information about the application process was not disseminated in an equal or fair manner this year. It may have been unrealistic to update the site or send official emails as info became available sporadically, so more casual platforms were utilized, but I only think this is acceptable if you are absolutely confident 100% of applicants had the tools and knowledge to find and access UTD info. Just my two cents - we all appreciate how busy the OVC admissions staff must have been/be at this time.

Sorry to post this here, but could somebody comment on different ways to fund a DVM program? I've heard it's difficult to expect to manage a full time job while doing your DVM, but are there other options? Aside from osap, do people often depend on student lines of credit? I just can't imagine spending e.g. $20,000 in credit and then paying 5% in interest monthly. That's $1000 per month just in interest!! The Financials are killing me here!
Any input is appreciated 😊

It's kind of funny that the pre-vets are whining about getting their interview emails a week late (surprise surprise) when the fourth years didn't even get to finish their rotations before graduation. GET OVER IT, it was predictable and OVC actually pulled these changes off incredibly quickly. If you want easier access to insider info, go to Guelph and join the Future Vets Club. Otherwise, there will always be students with more up-to-date info than you.

Scotiabank has the best LOC for vet students. $200 000 at prime or prime + 0.25% interest for most accepted DVM students.

Any input is appreciated 😊 I doubt you would be able to manage a full-time job during the school year, a part-time job is more realistic. Personally I'm relying on OSAP, money I've saved up over the years, and definitely fill out the financial need assessment form!! The bursaries I received from filling out that form covered nearly my entire second semester tuition this year!

This is a difficult time for everyone and I really do feel for the DVM students that had their classes and rotations disrupted.

Any input is appreciated 😊 I am no financial expert but that interest rate is generally intended as 5% of your principal yearly amortized over 12 months so your 5% interest on a 20000 principal is 1000 per year not per month. you pay monthly so your payment is 1000/12. in looking at funding overseas education my monthly interest payment on an anticipated 400k principal was 2k per month so there's no way it's 1k for 20k principal

You will get an email. Please be patient. I'm not sure if there are any technical issues that are delaying emails but I know they are on their way starting today. The manner in which the application process has been dealt with during the pandemic is totally inconsiderate and absurd. Rule #1 at OVC is don't talk back to ELo 🚩

OVC faculty have been greatly affected too... everyone is trying their best! The fact that OVC has found a way to not only continue teaching, but also adjust the interview process in such a short amount of time is admirable and should be greatly appreciated. I know this must be a challenging time but it does not reflect well to take out your frustrations on someone who is trying their best to help.
