Hey guys I’m have a couple questions involving my application and pre reqs, one of the courses that will be included in my last two full time semesters is a first year course I failed twice before 😥 (physics), will they be able to see my past marks even though it’s not one of my pre reqs but rather a requirement for graduation? Also I’m in my 6th year of study as I fell behind and off track in school due to unrelated issues. For the cell biology pre req I choose a 2nd year course as I have not done any courses in that area prior. I also wanted to take a first year real estate course as my social studies pre req. is it bad to have so many lower level courses in my application, does the 60% upper year courses apply if I’m still in my degree program?

I'm pretty sure the 60% rule applies as soon as you enter third year. Since you are going into your 6th year, you can probably only take 2 courses that are second year and under

The 60% rule applies, regardless of what year you’re in. In order for this semester to count 3/5 of your classes need to me third year or higher! Also, I’m not positive, but I think OVC doesn’t allow retakes so in your case I would think they’d see your failed mark for physics, regardless of if you get a stellar mark this semester. I’m not 100% sure on that though!

I’m not 100% sure on that though! I am under the impression that the 60% rule only applies once you are considered a third year student. For example, if you got a great mark in second year biochem, but you had 100% second year courses, that is fine to use that biochem mark, because you were in second year. The 60% rule is so that once you're in fourth year and OVC will see that semester, you don't take a bunch of easy first year courses to have your semester average super high, after completing your pre reqs. This is copy and pasted from the admissions tab on the website: A person's semester/year level is determined by the number of credits that have been completed successfully in his or her degree program plus those that are in progress. Once a person has reached twenty half-year courses (10.00 credits at the University of Guelph), they are considered a third-year student. For students in programs with more than 10 credits, 60% of credits in each full-time semester must be taken at a 3000 level (third year level) or above once they have completed 10 credits. However, 40% of the credits in a full-time semester may be taken at the level of the applicant's choice.

TRUE: that the 60% rule only applies once you are considered a third year student or have accumulated 10 credits (60 at some other universities)
TRUE: they only don’t allow you to do retakes if you’ve previously passed the course. So I think in this case they’d be ok!
Thanks for helping everyone
