Has anyone heard a rumoured day that these will be released? Are the offers close to being released?
On one page it says last week of April/first week of May, and then another says May 14th.

If you go to the general OVC website then click interview process for 2021 on a little tab, it says may 10-14!

For those who got an interview today, congrats! Just wondering what your averages were? Mine was an 89.5 and although I got an interview last year I didn’t get one this year.

Last year was 88.5% minimum for an interview, so I guess a 90% minimum or so wouldn't be too unexpected this year... Does it specifically say you weren't selected or has it just not updated yet? It might take them some time to send out all the interview offers (although I'm not sure about this!). But yeah it would be great if anyone who got an offer could post their average so we can get an idea.

Does anyone else feel that the cut-offs are just skyrocketing at this point? I'm just wondering about others' opinions on this. I'm beginning to feel that it's becoming unfair, especially with the covid situation and the varying policies at each university. I understand that it's still the top 100, but I personally don't see myself ever achieving a high 90, no matter how hard I try. I used to always count on the interview to be what pulls me through as that is something that I excel at, but at this point, even achieving an interview may not be possible. I am feeling very hopeless at the moment.
What are others' points of view on this?

Wow that's crazy... a 91.5% was above the minimum for admission last year, and won't even get an interview this year? I guess online courses and the W20 semester policy are really working wonders on people's averages...

If you university operates at a 4.0 scale, how do we convert to a 100% scale? I think my average was 91.6 and I got an interview offer but I am not sure if I am calculating it right.

It really sucks that no matter how much experience you have and how good your references are, your grades are basically what determines everything at this point.

I am feeling very hopeless at the moment. What are others' points of view on this? Yes, completely agreed. The reality is universities grade differently and have different admission standards... Taking the raw percentage like this and comparing students across universities and programs doesn't make sense. Plus all the universities that only use letter grades and that OVC takes the midpoint for... (let's be real, this is always an advantage! A 95% requires a disproportionately larger amount of effort than a 90% in schools with percentage grades). A student at Guelph with only A+s may have a low 90s average, but the same grades at York would count as 95%! If OVC really wants to base its ranking so strongly on academic averages, it should create a mandatory, standardized pre-vet stream, so that everyone can be ranked on the same courses and marking schemes. Otherwise they need to find a way to improve how they measure academic performance.

If you university operates at a 4.0 scale, how do we convert to a 100% scale? I think my average was 91.6 and I got an interview offer but I am not sure if I am calculating it right. You have to convert each course in your last 2 semesters to its midpoint percentage, and take the average of those for the last 2 semesters. Then do the same for your 8 prerequisites, and take the average of those two values. The midpoint percentage depends on your universities grading scheme, for example: - If a 4.0 is 90-100%, each 4.0 course would count as a 95%, and if 3.7 is 85-89%, each 3.7 course would count as 87% - If a 4.0 is 85-100%, each 4.0 course would count as a 92.5% etc...

These numbers are whack... We might just have to wait for the official OVC statistics to come out to really get an idea of what's going on here...
