I applied with a 94.3% and got an interview. I didn't got to Guelph but had all my courses approved. The marks seem high this year! I thought I would feel more confident but honestly I could see it going either way. I thought the interview went well but Casper was weird and hard to judge. Hi there! Out of curiousity, have you seen any other marks higher than yours? Thus far, yours is the highest I’ve seen. I’ve seen a 94.1 and I had a 93.5, and I believe a 93.1, but those are the highest I’ve seen

Someone from my work applied and I know his mark is in the same ballpark as mine but I'm not sure what it is exactly. Knowing him I wouldn't be surprised if its a bit higher than mine.

What are we all thinking the range of mark distributions are for this application range? A few people have 93's and 94's but otherwise, all I see are 90's (90.1's-90.9's) and 91's... Are we thinking anyone has a fair chance of getting in this year?

What are we all thinking the range of mark distributions are for this application range? A few people have 93's and 94's but otherwise, all I see are 90's (90.1's-90.9's) and 91's... Are we thinking anyone has a fair chance of getting in this year? It tends to be the higher the mark the fewer people have said mark, kinda like the right half of a bell curve. You can see this pretty well in the stats for last year. Interviewed had a median of 90.56 with a range from 88.5 to 96.9. Admitted was a median of 92.2 with a range of 90.5 to 96.9. Both those medians are considerably closer to the lower end of the range. Also keep in mind that the people on this forum are probably a bit more serious about their applications, as they've invested the time to be here, so you'd probably expect to see a few more higher marks than normal. As usual, your initial ranking is determined by your application mark. Then we are moved up/down that list based on our scores later on. What that means is an average interview will probably get you in if your marks are high but probably won't move you up enough if your marks are low. Although, a good interview always helps, especially with averages all likely within 7 percent of each other at the very most (highest applicant I've ever seen was 97). Red flags are also a random factor that boot a few people out of the rankings. We don't really know how CASPer scores are being used either - some schools only look at percentile ranking and remove applicants who fall outside a certain range. Anyways, best of luck everyone - there isn't a lot we can do now, it's all in the hands of the committee.

I’m not sure it’s fair to say that those with higher averages are more serious about their applications. I, for example, had a 92.3, but that doesn’t mean I am not serious simply because I do not have a super high average. It is important to keep in mind that everyone that has applied is clearly serious about their application as they all put in the time and effort to both their grades and experience. It is insensitive to assume someone isn’t serious because they were unable to achieve a 94+ average.

I don’t think that the person was saying that you aren’t serious if you applied with a lower mark, just that people who have taken the time to come to this forum and either post marks, talk about their experiences or give opinions may be more invested in this process than others, which might result in some slightly higher marks than someone who just applied to OVC on a whim. Some people with higher marks may also be more confident about posting their marks as well so that also needs to be taken into consideration!

I think the wording threw me off.

I wrote that pretty late and I couldn't quite think of the right way to say it. I by no means mean higher marks absolutely defines a better candidate, just that the people you see on this forum are likely people with a bit higher marks.

When should we expect decisions to be coming out? I would say last week of June would be a good guess based on when last year's decisions were out

Is anyone willing to comment from last years acceptances, that got in under the 90.4 cutoff what they had for an average? I have seen a few people here comment about getting into OVC last year with an average below the posted cut off and I am very curious to hear what it was!
