Hello! I am in my third year and want to apply to OVC in my fourth year. However I want to make my first semester of 4th year invalid. Can this be accomplished by taking a full year course in my fourth year? Therefore they will then look at both semesters of my third year as my last two full time semesters? Also by taking a full year course would this make both semesters invalid or just the first semester? Thank you!

Yes that would work, since the grade for the full year course won't be released by the application deadline, so your fall semester won't have 2.5 credits of numerical grades and won't be used.
Your winter semester won't count either way for next year's application cycle, only grades released by the March 1st deadline do.
I have also been making my subsequent semesters invalid to keep my first year average, but with the increasing averages I'm thinking I might have to try to improve it...

Yup I know, thanks though! Have them done already...

If we end up getting rejected, we can apply again when we graduate fourth year right? And by then we will have our fourth year marks so would OVC be looking at our 4th year fall and winter marks?

Yes, this is correct. When my friend applied in 3rd year, she had taken a full year course (one of those HK courses maybe? I don’t exactly remember), so she had to use all second year courses. When she applied this year, she was able to use both semesters that the full year course was taken in (she invalidated this fall) to apply. Taking a full year course only makes the first semester invalid, I believe. Once a grade is assigned, both semesters the course was taken in become valid. If you apply in the fall of fourth year, OVC counts your 3rd year winter and 4th year fall courses. If you apply after you finish fourth year, OVC would count both 4th year semesters (granted you do not invalidate the winter). I hope this helps.

If fourth year is made invalid by taking a full year course, yes, I believe OVC would look at both semesters of our 4th year if we apply after 4th year since they will have all our marks. But if you take a 5th year of classes to boost your marks, I think they will then look at 4th year 2nd semester and 5th year 1st semester.

Just to confirm, I can take four 0.5 credit courses in the fall + four 0.5 credits courses in the winter + one 1.0 credit that goes from fall to winter?

So i got rejected this year but I'm hoping to use my grades from my third year to apply. I just wanted to double check that if I were to take 3 200 level +2 400 level courses in my upcoming fall semester that this would be deemed invalid by OVCs standards. This wouldn't completely eliminate me from the application right? From my understanding they would take the 2 most recent acceptable semesters. I just wanted to make sure that i wouldn't be rejected flat out by taking the wrong courses

But it does mean that you can't use any courses from that semester as prerequisites if you happen to do better in them than in your previous prerequisite courses.

If I have an upcoming semester that is only 4 courses will I still be able to apply? (again, they'd just take the most recent acceptable semesters right?)

Yes! That's what I'm doing too, so that I don't need to worry about ruining the average I got in earlier semesters. It takes a lot of the pressure off!
