I am having a dilemma where I only have one vet to ask a letter of recommendation from, but for application I know I need two. Currently, I am working in a small animal hospital with only one vet and I really enjoy working there. I would like to volunteer at another clinic to get to know a second vet from whom I may be able to get a letter from, but I feel that my current workplace would be unhappy with this, as they would like me to work more. I also feel bad that I am paid to do work at one clinic but choose to offer to volunteer at another clinic. Any advice on what I should do?

You need two vet references. Go get two vet references.

What if you looked for a different type of experience that your current clinic cannot offer you? Chat with the vet and say you would like to work with horses or cows or experience EMCC ... and ask for their advice. They may be able to connect you with a colleague.
