I have a friend who was waitlisted today for medical school in Ontario, and that made me wonder if OVC has a waitlist for admissions as well? Every year, OVC interviews 200 applicants and admits 100, but the statistics don't mention how many actual offers they send out.
Do you think all 100 initial offers are accepted, or do some applicants end up declining (probably rare since OVC is the only vet school in Ontario!)?
I'd be curious to know how many offers are sent out each year and whether there is a waitlist, if that data is available!

I'm not sure about the domestic cohort. Since this is the only vet school you can apply to as a resident of Ontario, then I would guess that you're right – MOST offers would be accepted. However, there may be a very small waitlist since some applicants might also be applying to other professional schools such as med school, grad studies, etc. and if also accepted to those, may end up choosing one over the other. So there is still some leeway. I would say there is much more leeway in the international cohort as many international students are also applying to other international schools. I know an international student who was first waitlisted and then accepted. Just my speculations anyway

Yes, that would make sense! International students have a lot more options.
But if there are even just a few declines in the undergraduate cohort, that would mean more than half of the interviewees will ultimately be accepted!
Just an optimistic thought for those of you who will be interviewing in a few weeks... Stay strong!

I don't believe there is a 'waitlist' per se, but definitely almost every year one or more people decline their offer of admission. It is my understanding that OVC then looks at who was ranked the next highest (eg 101) and sends them an offer. This student would have been previously rejected, and will now be accepted since a spot has opened up. I know a couple people who got in this way. So again to reiterate--I believe rejected students will not be placed on a waitlist, BUT if a spot opens up a rejected student will be contacted if ranked high enough with their interview scores and marks.
