Hi there,
I am currently taking three ANSC courses in the 4000 level: -ANSC 4020: Genetics of Companion Animals -ANSC 4560: Pet Nutrition -ANSC 4090: Applied Animal Behaviour
I would like to take Wildlife Nutrition NEXT semester, but it is.. a) a 3000 level course & b) a nutrition course.
I'm concerned that it may be too similar of a subject to Pet Nutrition that I won't be able to take it under OVC's rule: "Courses will not be acceptable if they are repeats of previously passed courses, or if they are taken at the same level or a lower level in a subject area than previously passed courses in the same subject area"
Also, if it is NOT accepted for the 8 pre-requisite courses, would it be able to count towards the last two semesters average? Or is it completely unacceptable to take at all?
Thank you! Kayla

Check with Deanna on that. You could also ask the prof if the content intersects. If the course is considered a repeat in terms of content and you do take it, both the course and the semester are unusable.

Thank you! If say the semester is unusable, would I still be able to submit the two semesters previous to that one? Or would I not be able to submit my application all together?

Hi Elizabeth,
I will also inquire with Deanna but I wanted to ask for your input as well. The prof had replied with the following:
"There is little or no overlap between Pet Nutrition and Wildlife Nutrition (and I do not know why one is 3rd yr and one is 4th yr! A historical quirk maybe?). Wildlife Nutrition deals with non domesticated and non agricultural mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles in their natural environment (not in zoos), the foods they eat, how these foods are digested, how much energy, fat, protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals they need, and how they deal with undigestible and toxic components of their food. I hope this helps."

However one was microbiology and the other animal science (I think yours would be in the same study area). When comparing them she read the course description and the prereqs and the thing that allowed me to take the 3rd year one was that the prereqs were different. It's best to varify with her and if the prof says their very differnt courses then you might be in luck.
