Hi all, I was just wondering about my chances on getting an interview this year and wanted to create a thread for application statistics for this cycle. I have already applied this year but would just like to know what people's thoughts are regardless.
Last 2 full time semesters: 84.8 8 Pre requisite courses: 81.5 MCAT: 21
I understand my MCAT is perhaps the worst part of my application however do to my current situation I am in no position to re write it. If i am able to obtain an interview this year is it possible to get admitted if I prepare and do very well on the interview?
Thanks in advance, Feel free to post you application statistics as well!

You'll probably get an interview but to get in you'll need to do very well on the interview. I had similar stats last year and got an interview and did not get in last year (All my nerves hit me five minutes before the interview and it affected my performance. However, getting in with those grades is not impossible!
I have an 88/85/20 and Im hoping to be more successful on the interview portion and receive an offer of admission.
Good luck, i hope to see you in class next year!

Hey there, Well I think I applied with similar if not lower overall marks last year. I had 84/89/18... And I did also receive an interview... my interview however did not go as well as I wanted it to but thats alright This year I am applying with 88/91/18 and hope it will help that my marks are higher. But overall the interview I find may be the make it or break it moment... as it does become weighted a fair bit (assuming I get one again, fingers crossed!!) But overall I think you have a good chance in getting an interview Goodluck!!

I think you should get an interview this year. The application averages were very high last year. Hopefully you rock your interview!
As far as my application stats, I have: 88(last two semesters) 88(pre-reqs) 30(MCAT)
For those who applied previously, how do you receive your interview score? Does it just show up on web advisor? Thanks! Good luck to all. (:

Your interview score gets emailed to you, I received mine after the final offer of admission (so you likely won't have your score before you find out if you get in or not)

Is everyone else already wishing it was mid April so we would know if we got an interview? The waiting is nerve wracking. Personally I applied last year with a 81.5/84.7/27 last year, got an interview but did not get accepted. So based on that I do think you will probably get an Interview with your grades This year I'm applying with a 86.75/88.8/27 and I'm hoping to get an interview again and hopefully will do even better on it then last year.

kdonalds Don't mind me asking but what was your interview score? Just curious as your marks seemed pretty decent.

My interview score was 77.5... I asked the person I know who got in with marks similar to mine(but slightly higher interview score) and I realized I was only .21 points off of admission overall. I also asked the one person that was admitted after someone refused their spot (so she was the last person admitted) and based on her scores to mine I was only .17 points off overall. Soo close, so hopefully with my increased grades (and hopefully the same or higher interview score) I will be admitted this year.

Wow that is brutal, I was one point off last year and thought it must be really close but that is just crazy close. I have a feeling that in general there are a lot of people that don't get in who are incredibly close to the cutoff. I also improved my marks a lot this year to similar scores that you have but basing off the marks being posted here I think it will be a higher cutoff this year.
Good luck!

How do you calculate last year's cut off average?

Well last year my score with everything included was 78.13 and I was not accepted however I spoke a person who's score was .17 points ahead of me meaning the cut off must have been 78.3.
I calculated my total score like so: 81.5 x .4=32.6 84.7 x .4= 33.9 MCAT was (27/45) x .2= 12 So total grade score was 78.5 before interviews
Then my interview score was 77.5 so that being worth 35% my total score was calculated by: 78.5 x .65=51 77.5x .35= 27.13 Giving me an overal score of 78.13 Make sense?

Thanks for updating that spreadsheet! It is really well done, it has probably come in handy for many people.
Kdonalds that really sucks that you were so close! I know the marks were quite high last year, and with your improved marks I would think you will get in.

Hi, I have a strange question about the interview. I know when we did the mock MMI's we won't allowed to bring in any personal items like a wallet, but I was wondering if that is different in the real interview. Are we allowed to bring a purse or a wallet into the interview? Thanks :-)

Does anyone know for sure that they calculate your admission average by converting your MCAT score to a percent? On my MCAT testing history system, it gives me a range of where I scored in terms of percentages, and this is much higher than the percent I get when I divide my score by 45. Also in the previous statistics posted on the OVC website, the MCAT scores aren't listed as percentages but as numbers out of 15. Any clarification would be appreciated.

Yup! You can leave your stuff in the main area while you're in the interview because someone will always be out there, but they usually don't recommend bringing anything too valuable.

The ranges are posted for you to see which percentile you're in compared to everyone else that wrote the mcat at that time, but they use your actual score out of 45 for admissions (or /15 for each of the sections)
