Just wondering if anyone knows what exactly would be a “red flag” on your application? I know that if there is something wrong with your application it may cause you to not get an interview regardless of your marks, but wasn’t sure if anyone had heard of any examples from the past. Thanks!

Hi
I give some examples in my talk. Things like a negative or a reference from a vet that doesn't know you, or inappropriate reference (from a family member for example), or the hours you claim are exaggerated based on what the referee states ... things like that.

Do you contact all the validators for our activities, or just if something seems off?
I'm just wondering because I volunteered at a place a couple years ago and I'm not really sure if they keep those kinds of records, and the person in charge of the volunteering is no longer with the company and I'm not sure who they are (I only interacted with them once) so I was going to put the name of the new person down and hope they have the records.

I doubt they call every validators as I'm pretty sure every applicant can have a max of 10 "activities" for EACH section, multiply that be however, many applicants they're considering for the interview, wether they find the top 250 and ween out the ones with flags after they have their top candidates or if they check all the applicants, its a lot of people to call not to mention the people who don't answer right away.
If they did that we probably wouldn't find out if we got in till the weekend before school started! As Lowenger stated: "Things like a negative or a reference from a vet that doesn't know you, or inappropriate reference (from a family member for example), or the hours you claim are exaggerated based on what the referee states ."
They aren't looking for the people who made uneducated guess on their hours and are in a reasonable range, or people who volunteered somewhere and the company changed up the faculty. They are looking for people who have stated false information to make their BIF stronger.
Try to relax about it. I know how you feel even though my BIF is as accurate as I could make it, I still felt like I was lying about my entire life. My entire life. At one point I was like: they will never believed I worked this many hours at (place) even though I've been working there for two years on and off full time, and I'm going to get disqualified for even being 10 hours off what I actually did (when I've done 1000+ hours).
I digress, try to relax, as a previous and current applicant I know your brain is probably searching for any reason you might get rejected, just try to focus on what you can control and take a breath!

I'd agree with your "try to relax" statement. I actually rounded all of my numbers down because I was worried about the same thing. I was told after by one of the people that interviewed me that they thought I didnt have a lot of hours, but I had an interesting resume (because I had worked a lot of different jobs). So, she actually remembered me after a year later because of my unusual experiences. My point is, most people applying have a TON of hours. Maybe they exaggerate them, but don't think that your's will seem crazy. In my case, 8 months of full-time hours in a clinic was considered low.

Blah. Now I am getting anxious because I am thinking that I have too few clinical hours to have a shot at an interview. I have around 500 clinical hours with different vets, split between watching surgeries, assisting with patients, and reception/cleaning duties. I thought it was a low number of hours but that it would be acceptable. I have many other animal and job hours though. Maybe it will be okay. :/

Hi all, I was just wondering about my chances on getting an interview this year and wanted to create a thread for application statistics for this cycle. I have already applied this year but would just like to know what people's thoughts are regardless. Last 2 full time semesters: 84.8 8 Pre requisite courses: 81.5 MCAT: 21 I understand my MCAT is perhaps the worst part of my application however do to my current situation I am in no position to re write it. If i am able to obtain an interview this year is it possible to get admitted if I prepare and do very well on the interview? Thanks in advance, Feel free to post you application statistics as well! Did you end up getting an interview?
