Hi there,
So there's a chance that I might have to apply as an International student to OVC while my government paperwork is processing. I know I'll only have 4 shots to apply so I'm debating on whether or not to apply as an International or just wait until I'm 'Domestic'. This would obviously depend on previous admission stats for International students and where I am within them. Does anyone know if this information is available?
Thanks guys.

As far as I know there isn't any admission statistics for international students other then whats on the cohort pages. Which is just how many applied v got an interview v got in. I believe this is because international applicants are picked on a case by case basis, rather then all at once (correct my if I'm wrong). Unfortunately there isn't much information regarding the grad and international cohort acceptances, except the fact that there are significantly fewer spots in each cohort.
That being said, you have a 0% chance of getting in if you do not apply. It really depends on if you think your grades, and LOR's are competitive enough. As well keep in mind that no one really knows how next years statistics are going to look, as the MCAT is no longer required. In all honesty, I would take the chance and apply, even if you don't get in you'll have the experience of an application and hopefully an interview. That being said, I know nothing about you, and your grades, I'm just going from my perspective.
I hope some international students can help answer your question more!
PS You may have a little more luck getting info from the Student Doctor Network- Veterinary forums. there are more students on that forum with experience of applying internationally!

Thank you! I know there isn't much on the website. I will certainly check the SDN! If any international students have any experience I would love to hear from you!

If you apply into the international pool and get accepted, you realize that you would have to pay the international tuition until you receive your PR?

Yes Ms. Lowenger. Which is kind of why I wanted to know statistically where I stand in either pool. Not sure if international students have higher GPAs and such than domestic which would make waiting until my paperwork is through more favorable than just applying now.

You would be applying for fall 2016 in either case. When will you be a PR?

No guaranteed time but the 'average' wait time for my pool of paperwork is '12-16 months'. Which would mean there is a chance I would be a PR before the school year would start but I can't be sure. I've talked to Ms. Lundmark about it and she pretty much said I have to try to get in as an Int'l student until my paperwork comes it which is a bit disappointing. I'm not sure if I could 'change status' with OVC if I was approved during the application process. Just a mess!

Im an international student studying at UWaterloo who will definitely apply as an international student.. I really want to learn more about international admission statistics, like what's the average score for 8 pre-reqs, last two semesters and the interview? I cannot find any information from OVC website, and I'd love to know where I am within the range...
