Hi everyone,
I met with my academic advisor (I'm in Zoology at Guelph) and she said I should look into more ANSC and BIOM courses for applying to OVC. I'm not sure if I will be able to fit in any courses other than my ZOO courses because I'm also working on a minor in ecology. Are there any opinions on just ZOO courses versus a mix of ZOO, ANSC, and BIOM?
Thanks!
Jessica

Hi,
As long as you are meeting all the requirements I really don't think it matters. They say you should have a focus on animal biology, but ZOO courses such as vertebrates and invertebrates are all about animals! I know a few people who did their undergrad in Zoology and got in (plus people who majored in things like biochemistry and neuroscience). Since Zoology already has a strong animal component to it, I wouldn't worry about it - just take the courses that will help you get a good average!
Personally I took mostly BIOM, PATH, and PSYCH courses (I was in Bio Sci) because I thought they were interesting and very very few ANSC courses. Of course, since you are trying to get into a program that has a huge animal physiology and anatomy component, it never hurts to take these types of courses!
Hope that helps!
