Has anyone in the graduate cohort been rejected yet? I'm a grad cohort applicant but have not been rejected....yet.

Nothing yet. Given the proportionately fewer number of applicants in the grad cohort each year, I doubt there are the multiple rounds of rejections as seen in the undergrad pool. Most likely, the grad acceptance/refusals will be issued at the same time. I know it's torturous waiting, but last I checked in they hadn't even begun to look at us, and was told we wouldn't hear anything until May. Hope that helps assuage your anxiety/excitement! Good luck and happy waiting

So Grad students hear later than undergrad students? That is my understanding. And I garnered from past posts and OVC website that grad interviews will be later too. Ms. Lowenger said she'd consider sending out an email to grad students explaining this, but I understand it's a busy time of year for all involved.

Thats really stressful having to hear after the undergrads hear.

Hi everyone,
I'm a little confused as to where you see a change in status? I was expecting an email with either a rejection/admission notice, and I dont see any changes made to my webadvisor either?
Thanks

Thanks You won't get an admission notice until late May early June. If your web advisor status hasn't changed it means your still in the running for an interview and will hear when they've sent out the interview notifications.

To Guest 225, as a practice owner for over 30 years, I had the dubious privilege of meeting and interviewing many many, dozens of veterinarians, almost all women. Most did not want to work the required hours. If they wanted to work full time at all, they wanted to work between 9 and 4 no weekends or evenings, because they had chlldren. I actually interviewed scores who ultimately decided not to work at all. One, whose husband attended the interview with her, having actually been the party who responded to the ad. She had been on maternity leave for 4 years, and he was anxious she start working again. I offered her a job and got a refusal because she had decided that her son, now 4 needed a year of full time mothering to prepare him for the upcoming rigours of kindergarten. After about the year 2000 it became almost impossible to hire anyone who would share my workload in any kind of comprehensive way. Ultimately, I sold one of my practices to an East Indian graduate, and downsized to the other two man practice, using a retired 1974 locum to pick up the slack. I never did find a vet who wanted to work, and sold the second practice to another East Indian in 2012. I have since met dozens of vets who have retired after less than a half dozen years in practice, semi retired, or gone on permanent maternity leave and otherwise abdicated from the work world. This is a crying shame for the people who are not getting accepted and had their futures ripped out from under them by those who really only wanted to be a DVM to assuage their egos, not for the actual career. I blame OVC for their inability to weed out these types, which I suspect are the high mark achieving ass kisser, and I blame a modern generation of women for believing it is their right to obtain an expensive education like veterinary medicine and then refuse to actually do the job after graduation. retireddvm1 - Is this by chance you spewing your cynicism in other forums as well (VETGirl)? It would be interesting to put a face to the nonsense, and to make sure that individuals who are still young and optimistic know who to say away from. I'm amazed you can self-reportedly dedicate so much time to your job, yet still have time to argue on the internet in multiple forums; tell me - what's your secret?

I think interview invites will go out in late May and interviews will be in June. Fingers crossed! It's very sad that after 6 years of university and 2 degrees plus the tremendous amount of work that is required to complete a graduate degree, we still might not be good enough. I just have a hard time with that but I am hoping for the best and expecting the worst! It's almost May though. Hang in there!

I was emailed last year in the beginning of June for a grad cohort interview that took place in mid June, then heard about final admissions the week after that. The interviews last year were I believe all on the same day for the grad cohort.

It's so unfair how people who have it easy with grades can have such an advantage in the admissions system nowadays. We all know that programs across universities are academically difficult in their own ways, and that this is case specific depending on the person. However, there should be a way to STANDARDIZE everyone coming from DIFFERENT backgrounds for an admission to ONE school. This is why the MCAT exists for medical school - a fair test on fair grounds for everyone to take, regardless of their background.
I really hope they consider some form of standardization for refusing candidates before the interview, other than marks.

While I agree there should be a standardized test, you forget that the interview is worth a huge portion of your application so I don't believe this system is unfair. Also they weed out those who don't really care about the profession by looking at their volunteer hours

Just curious how people are calculating their averages? I was under the impression that an A+ worked out to be a '95%' (according to the BIF form), however in the admissions stats from previous years, some of the admitted averages (for either the prereqs or last two semesters) were over 95%? Just want to make sure I am on the right page when calculating these!

Those BIF conversions only apply to Universities that ONLY give out letter grades.
For people who apply with raw percentages (most people), there are no conversions being done. Hence marks above 95%.
