Hi there,
I was wondering what exactly the "received" status means for our referees' assessments? Does it mean they received and opened the email? Two of mine do not have anything under "status" and one had "received" almost immediately after I submitted my BIF.
Thanks!

It means OVC has received the reference letter from that particular referee. It is up to you to make sure your referees submit their form and letter by the deadline, not the college's. So send them a kind reminder if the deadline is approaching. I had to do that with one of mine when I applied last year.
Best of luck!

Oh really? It appeared as received almost immediately after I submitted my BIF though, I'm not sure how the referee wrote it that quickly haha

It only takes a few minutes to assess a candidate. They rank you on a form of desirable attributes and attach a reference letter. They get a link to their email after you submit their contact info. If your veterinarian has been a referee in the past; chances are they had a reference letter template ready to go and tailored it towards you. That's why it was so fast.
Not long ago they were still mailing letters to OVC. This electronic process is fairly new and quite rapid. Now the wait begins!
