I just have some questions, mainly about getting the rabies vaccine to volunteer at OVC. I'm starting at Guelph in the fall for my undergraduate.
The Pharmacy had told me it's $640 to get the vaccine, which is a little difficult to do in my situation at the moment.
Did everyone pay this much? Or was it cheaper to get it done on campus? I'm so confused.
I have also heard that a vet needs to refer you to the OVC so you can volunteer? How would I go about asking that/what do I tell the vet to do? Who to email and so on. I'm currently volunteering at a clinic so the referral shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for any help.

Hello
Currently there is no volunteer program at OVC.

Hey inukshuk, the cheapest place to get your rabies vaccine is at the student health center on campus. I don't recall the exact cost but it is cheaper than doing it outside of campus. You will want to get on the waiting list to get your vaccine as soon as you arrive to Guelph since the waiting list gets quite long with so many students wanting to get the vaccine. And like lowenger said, OVC currently does not take volunteers, however it is still a good idea to get your rabies vaccine regardless. If you have any other question, feel free to email the Future Vets Club at fvc@uoguelph.ca . We're happy you chose to be a Gryphon!
