Long story short, my admission average is 91.290/3.71 on a 4.0 scale. I feel like that's not good enough. The admission average gets higher and higher each year, so I am scared that I won't get in. I know it may sound silly, but I really want to be a veterinarian. I am an international student and UOFG only accepts 15 students a year. I just want to vent. How do you guys de-stress?

Hey snflowerseeds It's completely okay to feel this way and your average is by no means low. You've still got loads of time to prepare and do your best on your interview! Communication is a big part of being a good veterinarian ... grades aren't everything. There are 4 chances to apply, which gives you an opportunity to better your skills each time, and there are many other vet schools out there as well! One thing that helps me is remembering that becoming a veterinarian is by all means not my only option. I understand that it may seem like the only thing you ever want to do in life, and this is great motivation, but remember there are so many amazing and FULFILLING opportunities out there with which you CAN help animals. I hope this helps at least somewhat

Feeling stressed is completely normal! I was stressed out of my mind during applications and was admitted on my first try. You can do this! Your average is great. With the international cohort, keep in mind that the median is not the necessarily the most important factor. 50% of the internationals in the class of 2024 had a GPA between 3.34 and 3.76! You are NOT at the bottom end!
IMO, the grades are the most important factor that keep people out of OVC. You've got em. You need to really focus on your communication skills now to nail that interview when it comes around, and you've got 4 tries to do it if you really need them all. Try taking a prep course, hiring a current OVC student to evaluate your interview skills (they will not be helpful in telling you what the questions are though!) and practicing with mentors in the field. You've got a great foundation with a 3.7 for a successful application to vet school. You CAN do this! Be smart about your interview preparations and i'm sure you'll be joining us in the future.

Are you sure you're looking at the GPA correctly? As an international applicant you'd be applying through VMCAS and iirc, a 90+ average converts to a 3.9-4.0 on their standardized system. Also keep in mind that if you don't mind paying international tuition, you have the option of US/European schools where (anecdotally from previous applicants), a 90+ average is VERY competitive. I really wouldn't worry about not being able to be a vet.
