Hi guys!
I was a bit unsure about applying this year because I do not have any large animal experience. It has been hard to get any because the stables/farms around me were are not accepting volunteers due to covid. I was wondering if this would be looked at as a red flag or if it would hurt my chances of being selected for an interview. I only have experience with small animals and exotics. Thanks!

As long as you have 2 vet references, lacking large animal experience should not affect your application! If you have the grades and references, apply!

Yes there is no pre-requisite for certain types of experience! I know people who had zero large animal experience and still got in (and i myself had minimal and got accepted as well). However, I would try and still get the experience at some point for YOU, because you'll be working with the cows and horses at OVC and you'll want to have some semblance of comfort/confidence around then Sincerely, someone who had no choice but to get over their fear of horses.
