So in applying through the grad cohort... when your application is looked at, is everything taken into mind (grades, MCAT, experience, etc.) before they decide if you get an interview or not? Rather than just looking at grades/MCAT for the undergrad cohort? My concern is this, I feel like I would have a better chance in the grad cohort, but having only done a one-year MSc coursework program, would I be given equal consideration when applying with people who have done a 2 year MSc program or PhD and both of those having defended their theses and had more opportunities than someone in my program for going to conferences and getting papers published, etc?

You would definitely be compared with those who have completed a thesis based MSc. and a PhD in the grad cohort. So publications, awards, conferences attended and presentations are definitely fair game and are looked for in the grad cohort (the more and the better quality the better). The committee really wants people who will continue on with research after vet school which is why all those things (publication, etc) are so important to them. Good luck with your applications!
