Hello everyone. When you submit your prerequisites for evaluation, do you need to submit a complete syllabus, or is a course description sufficient? Does anyone know if the University of Ottawa course BCH3170 is an acceptable biochem prereq?

When I was going through that whole process I just submitted course descriptions as the "old" admissions page simply requests " detailed course descriptions" (which, in all likelihood, would probably still be sufficient for most cases). However, the process for making course evaluation requests is well summarized on the "new" admissions page ( www.ovc.uoguelph.ca/recruitment/en/applyingtodvm/Makingacourseevaluationrequest.asp), which now requests " course syllabi." Since that is what they are now requesting, I'd go along with it and submit syllabi, especially since they're readily available or, if you don't already have copies saved, are at least generally easily obtainable from profs. Honestly, the course approvals process for non-UofG students can often be rather drawn out and sometimes frustrating at its best, so you might as well try to smooth the process by giving them all the information they might possibly ever need right from the start. Also, more generally in my experience (not specifically in relation to the UofG course approvals process), I've found that denials of requests are sometimes just due to poorly made applications, often simply because of a lack of sufficiently detailed information, so make sure they have all the appropriate information by giving them their course syllabi as requested.

I had an interview this year, and I'm from Ottawa U. I used bch2333 as my prereq for biochem, but I sent all my syllabuses mid summer last year to get everything okay'd ahead of time! goodluck!!

Hi there, I submitted Bio 3170 as a prereq for genetics, it was not approved for biochemistry. As you probably already know, Bch 3170 and Bio 3170 are the same course, taught by the same prof, in the same class... at the same time. Good ol' uOttawa! I wouldn't count on it being approved for biochem.

I would like to have a confirmation if this is the correct way to send in my course evaluations. Do I print the entire syllabi for each course and attach it with my list of pre-reqs, transcript and mail it?
Thanks!

Do I print the entire syllabi for each course and attach it with my list of pre-reqs, transcript and mail it? Thanks! As given in my previous post above, the official, detailed process for making a course evaluation request is given on the following page: www.ovc.uoguelph.ca/recruitment/en/applyingtodvm/Makingacourseevaluationrequest.asp. The current address and fax number (as of the date of this post) are given on the main " Academic Requirements" page ( www.ovc.uoguelph.ca/recruitment/en/applyingtodvm/Academicrequirements.asp): Course Evaluation Request
If you are not studying at the University of Guelph, you must submit the courses that you want to use as prerequisites for approval prior to application...Send requests in writing by mail or fax at least eight weeks prior to when the decision is required. Please do not email course evaluation requests. Send your request to:
