Hello everyone,
I just had a question about choosing a veterinarian to write a reference letter. I did co-op at a vet clinic in Grade 12, during which time I got to work with the vet there really closely. Since high school I have continued to visit the clinic and have kept in touch with this vet, and he recently agreed to write me a reference letter. I am applying this year, and by the time the admissions committee reviews my reference letters it will have been 3 years since I have worked with this vet. I’m not sure if I should use him as a reference as it has been so long since I’ve worked with him – i.e. will the admissions committee look negatively upon that fact? My other 2 reference letters are from people I just worked with this past summer (one vet and one non-vet). I have had some other vet experiences since high school, but feel that the vet I did co-op with got to know me the best and could provide me with a better letter than some vets I have worked with more recently. Any opinions/thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi
Good question! As long as you have more recent and positive DVM references this should be fine. The committee would be concerned if you hadn't done anything since.
