Hello,
So, I'm an American, I've lived in Canada for about 5 years and have done my last bit of High school and my Undergraduate career thus far in Canada. I go to Queen's and through my Visa I pay domestic rate tuition. Does anyone know if the same will happen for OVC? I'm kind of in a strange situation where I'm in the middle of temporary residency and permanent residency- just curious if anyone has had this kind of situation before?
I'm also seeing that as an International student there isn't anything different for me in terms of courses or extracurricular activities. I'm not crazy and that is the case, correct? Just looking for some validation I suppose, ha!
Thanks guys,
Katie

Hi Katie
I'm assuming you're not a dual citizen. You must be a Canadian Citizen or PR with Ontario residency to apply here into the domestic pool. So your residency of 12 months only counts once you become a PR or citizen, not before.
You are correct that the academic requirements are the same. The biggest difference is the tuition. And of course numbers. We accept 100 domestic undergrads vs. 15 international students

That's what I thought. We're in the process of filing paperwork for Permanent residency but according to the CA gov't it can take up to two years to process. If the paperwork is still being processed does that mean I would still be classified as International?

You'll need to send in more info about your VISA to Deanna Lundmark and she will look into your situation.
