Unfortunately I did not get an interview and I know it was because of my marks because I had 79 and 80 average. I am planning to take more courses and boost my average. I was just wondering, to people who got refused as well, what is your averages? I just want to have an idea of what was the cut off. Thanks

^thats insane, I would have thought that warranted an interview! I had ~450 hours vet, 1500 hours animal, 90 and 90 average. I'm curious to know what the cut off was.... last year someone with an 80 average got in :S

you mean with 90 average you did not get an interview?
I'm sorry that some of you have been refused. As a third time applicant I know that all too well. This year I applied with 83.9 and 86 and have not been refused... yet. I have about 1400 vet hours, 200 animal hours, 335 extra curricular hours, and 3200 other work hours. Don't give up guys! <3

Congrats for not getting a refusal I will try again for SURE!!
So people applying with an 85 average will either be rejected in the near future or will be on the very bottom of the 200. Not good either way. Last year people with low 80 got an interview, this year the low end of the cut off seemed to have gone up 5%. An absolutely random guess has me imagining an average accepted % in the low 90s this year
Fatcat's guess seems about right. I applied with 85 and 82 and was rejected. Really thought I had a good chance at an interview but as others have said with the MCAT gone the admissions averages have increased a lot this year.
Hey guys I know the application process is super stressful but keep in mind that we don't know why the people who were recently rejected got their rejections. Although it is possible that grades are the cause, they may have also been rejected for other reasons. Even with 90s you can be rejected if your BIF and references aren't up to the OVC standards. Even a 90/90 applicant shouldn't interview if they don't have enough experience or enough breadth of experience. Remember its not all about grades and number of hours!
Again I don't have any "inside" information on the process but I doubt these rejections are based only (or even mostly) on grades!
I've heard of people getting in with very little animal experience. And no where has OVC ever released their standards for experience or breadth of experience. This leads me to believe, after a lot of research, that in order to get an interview you are looked at purely based on your grades UNLESS you are flagged in your BIF or references for something that obviously disqualifies you as a candidate.
Including people on facebook, it's unlikely that ALL these people with sub 85% were rejected due to not having enough experience.
Can't tell for sure until acceptances are sent out and someone can chime in and say they got an interview invite with a sub 85% average.
But I definitely believe the whole 85% cut off. This isn't the US, you don't need hundreds of hours of experience to apply and be granted an interview... :/

I agree that the 85 cut off is probably true. To comment on your mention about this not being the US, that is true. But not only that, there are only 5 schools in canada and only 1 ontario residents can apply to. That's probably why its so competitive.
