Hey all,
I'm thinking of applying to Vet school this year!
Unfortunately I have no clinical experience, and all my veterinary experience is lab based although there was some animal handling. I do have animal experience (i.e broilers and small animals), but none of it veterinary supervised.
Do you think I stand a chance or should I apply next year?
Thanks everyone!

It depends on you. If you have a lot of hours working with vets in labs you can apply - you still need 2 references from DVMs. But do you feel you know enough about the profession you potentially want to join? Do you only want to end up working in a lab as a DVM? Much of what you will be learning in the program is clinical.

Hi Lowenger,
Thanks for replying! I have the two references, and I do feel like I know about the profession due to exposure from research, and my supervisors. I would ideally like to practice and then possibly come back to do veterinary research. I just wanted to know if there was a preference to certain forms of veterinary experience over others (i.e large animal clinical experience vs. veterinary research in a lab).
Thanks again!

There's no preference but for your sake it might be good to get a feel for clinical medicine.
