Hi all! I just applied for this year's OVC cycle, but I'm getting worried because I have no large animal experience. I have great small animal (1500+ hours) and some wildlife experience (250 hours), and I applied with a 91 average. I was wondering if my lack of farm animal experience will reduce my chances of getting accepted. Has anyone with my similar grades and experience gotten accepted to OVC? Thanks!

Hi If you look over the Selection Criteria at www.ovc.uoguelph.ca/recruitment/en/applyingtodvm/selectionprocess.asp we don't give minimum hours or say that you must have specific animal type experience. True it is better for you in terms of your experience/comfort level to have worked with a variety of species but you will have to work with them at OVC once you are here.
