Hey everyone!
Wondering if any OVC students could share what OVC classes look like this year with the “hybrid” semester due to covid. Are labs still running, clubs, etc. Applying this year and wondering what next fall may look like if I am fortunate enough to get in!
Thanks!!

Classes are currently all online, with a mixture of synchronous (live) and asynchronous (remote/pre-recorded) lectures. We are on campus ~2 times a week for in-person labs with appropriate social distancing measures within our practice groups and tutorials are live lectures with breakout rooms. I personally really enjoy the flexibility in the schedule and the ability to do the classes on my own time/ when I feel most motivated to do so. Clubs are also being held virtually so the majority of extracurriculars are over lunch time virtual talks, but it's still an opportunity to interact with different phases and professors outside of scheduled class material and to explore your interests. I think it really comes down to what you decide to make of it - have we lost out on the 'quintessential' first year experience? Maybe so, but everyone is working extremely hard to make it interactive and enjoyable

I concur, I also am loving the flexibility of the asynchronous lectures! Hope they continue to do some of that in phase 2!

Speaking of labs; particularly in first year what sort of hands on, lab learning takes place?
