Hello, thank you for looking into my situation. I'm a student with a permanent disability, registered with my school's accessibility services, currently taking two classes, which is the maximum I can currently take and the considered full-time studies for disabled students in Ontario.
I can't reach Guelph's accessibility office or OVC's admissions with an answer to my situation. The first time I made contact this June, the admissions office thought I was a current student asking for accommodations for the upcoming term and was asked to contact my program advisor. I've subsequently inquired more times, but still no answer.
I want to present for one of the biology prereqs a course I'm taking this semester, but I don't know if it will be accepted, because I'm taking less than 5 courses.
I couldn't find information in this forum or online and I feel stuck between a rock and a hard place, because I can't take more courses currently and taking a break from school for some time while my treatment is adjusted feels unfair. I've just recently been diagnosed and started treating my ADHD, and it would be disheartening to face another setback in my aspirations.
Does anyone know if there are such accommodations? I've found on premed forums and law forums that sometimes school's do not follow doctor's accommodation requests, and would only allow to take 4 out 5 classes instead of 5/5 for their prereq semesters.
Thank you

OVC has a pretty detailed explanation of their appeal's process on their website ( www.ovc.uoguelph.ca/recruitment/en/applyingtodvm/Academicrequirements.asp, scroll down to the bottom). In particular they say: So if you need to use coursework from semesters that do not meet OVC's eligibility requirements, you need to submit an appeal explaining why and providing documentation to support your appeal. The detailed instructions are on the website linked above. It will probably be a bit tight to write your letter and collect all the documentation you need by October 1st, so the next deadline to submit an appeal would be February 1st.

Please also keep in mind that the veterinary curriculum at OVC is challenging and demanding. You would be taking 6-8 courses a semester, with extracurriculars and professional development on top of this. You need to evaluate your situation if you feel that you can realistically meet these demands.
