What kind of experiences and references did you have? Vet School wasn't on my radar during undergrad and when I finished my 4th year I got hired to help start a non-profit vet clinic. I worked as a technician assistant for 3 years where I spent most of my time assisting in surgical procedures and being able to practice a lot of hands on skills with shelter animals. It was really good for hands on experience since we'd be doing 10-20 surgeries, multiple dentals, and 8 hours of consultations simultaneously everyday. After a couple years, the vets at my clinic helped me determine that vet med was a career I could see myself in and convinced me to apply to OVC last year. My references were one of the vets that I worked with consistently with for 3 years, a vet that taught at the Atlantic Veterinary College that I worked with for a couple years, and a regional representative for a corporate veterinary company. Wow those experiences definitely sound great! Thanks for sharing.

First time applying, my combined average is 95.5 and I scored 4th quartile on Casper.
Assuming no one has received interview invites yet? Good luck all 🍀

88% and 4th percentile Casper Maybe grade inflation has decreased now, and I have a shot. Best of luck to everyone!

I assume they will be sent out on Monday, the 29th of this year. Best of luck to everyone! Over the moon right now! Invited for an interview Good luck to everyone else! CHECK YOUR "OTHER" folder!!!

I know the averages have started to skew higher this year - as they do every year. I have an 88 and still got an interview. I hope others are in the same boat and OVC accepts students with applications supported by other exceptional supplementary points without reliance on a 90+ average.

Congratulations! What was your Casper score, if you don't mind me asking?

I used accepted together last year and it helped a lot. I used Janis Fishman and she was awesome but I'm sure all the OVC students are pretty good! It's pretty expensive and I think it charges you in American but it does help. I also just found OVC students on Facebook and insta and asked them if they would help and most are willing to do it for free

Also, I got an interview last year with an 84 average and 3rd quartile casper so it's not impossible. So don't feel down if your marks aren't that high! I didn't get in (probably for that reason) but you never know! They just want to see you are a well-rounded individual. Good luck to everyone!
