For those wondering why a 90+ average and solid interview score wouldn't get in, there is the chance that an applicant may have gotten a negative reference letter or that they were red flagged in their interview. Being someone who got accepted with an average slightly below the mean from my year, I know that they look for your experiences and personality during the interview process and that it is not all about your grades! These posts about sharing grades are not helpful in my experience because this process is so much more than just a numbers game. Don't get discouraged and don't get too confident based on other peoples' grades!

That's good to hear, thanks! Do you have any good tips for the interviews? I mean like what you did to practice; I'm aware you cannot share scenarios.

What you are saying is totally true but grades determine if you get an interview or not and since we are at that stage, it is kind of important to know the grade pool this year.

I am applying for the second time this year Pre-Req:94 Last 2 Semesters: 95 I also got a 75 on my interview last year and didn't get accepted. So, you're definitely not guaranteed with a 90+ average. I feel yeah. I was in the same boat as you fret not just practice lots to gain confidence! I found for me it wasn't that my answers were incorrect, more how I presented myself. I'm pretty sure CO-OP services offer practice interviews if you want additional practice!

84.4 for pre-req and 84.8 for last 2 terms. Over 800 hours of working as veterinarian assistant + lots of volunteering with animals (including vet clinic and a rehab center in South Africa)
Super nervous as I don't know if my marks will be high enough for an interview.

Hi Guest7777 please answer only if you are comfortable but I was wondering whether you had received an interview place? I did not, with at 86.6 and 86.3 - I feel as though my veterinary hours were not sufficient and that may be why but was curious? Thanks!

I am surprised you didn't get an interview with an 86.6 and 86.3! I'm interested to know if there was a higher cutoff as well for the grades this year. If someone can chime in on whether they were given an interview with an average <85%, then that would give future applicants hovering around that range some hope...

Hey, I'm surprised you didn't get an interview with those grades!
I don't know if it will help anyone's estimates, but I got one with 86.8 and 87.6.

Hey Guest201, I'm sorry to hear you didn't get an interview - I'm surprised that you didn't with 86+! Do you mind me asking what your vet experience was like going into the application? By the way, I also did not get an interview (with grades quite a bit lower), so solidarity. We'll get there!!

I didn't either :/ But I didn't have too much hope as getting an interview is primarily grade based and I didn't have a high enough average (~84).... I'm hopeful that next year application will be sufficient because I'm expecting to have a cumulative average of 88-89 (and a whole lot of additional hours at the hospital!). Any one get an interview below 86% average?

I had only just over 200 supervised veterinary hours. Over 5000 supervised animal experience hours. I have worked as an IT sales exec. for 6 years before going back to school so many other hours of employment but not animal related... I'm still gutted.

Wow, I'm surprised that 200 vet hours may not have been considered enough... could it possibly have been a lack of diversity in vet experiences instead of quantity? I've always heard that it's not so much the total number of hours as how you use them. It's pretty hard to rack up a ton of volunteer hours while also working etc.!

Since you are confident the references were solid, it was probably the grades not the experience because if you look back in history on these forums (couple years ago) there were people getting interviews/accepted with like 30-40 vet hours...
Grade inflation is so awful :/

And for other's reference - my experience was half equine sports medicine vet and half companion animal clinics. I also worked in an aquaculture trout lab at the university I recently went back to school at. To give people a general idea.

I definitely don't think the experience was the issue since I had a little less than you and got an interview this year. About 150 vet hours, 1000 animal, and a lot of work hours. :/ I guess I just made it into the interview cutoff.
